559 DUI Arrests Reported in Arizona Last Weekend
Arizona police are reporting that they made 559 DUI arrests this pass Memorial Day weekend. Of those arrests, 499 were misdemeanor DUIS, 60 were aggravated DUI arrests and 148 were extreme-DUI cases. While this number may seem high, it is actually very similar to last year's numbers. These numbers do beg the question if there are really that many more people driving under the influence on a holiday weekend or if the police are just trying extra hard to get DUI arrests at this time of year. It is reported that 13,002 stops were made by Arizona police from Thursday to Tuesday morning. That means that less than 4.5% of the drivers stopped were found to be under the influence.
